Just a short post today as I prepare to drive home from New York City. This has been a great trip, and I’m so grateful to all the wonderful people that I was fortunate enough to meet all over the Eastern US. Thanks to my friends Carl and Jaime in Atlanta, for opening their hearts and home to me. To my friends Robert and Mylene who invited me to come to Saint Augustine for Christmas, without them I would probably not done this trip, thanks guys! To Sony and Kinte in Savannah, how nice to meet you both, I’m looking forward to being back in your beautiful city and hope to see you again. To Ida in Charleston, who was so incredibly welcoming, interesting and fun to talk with, thank you! Also in Charleston, Randall, you made Charleston such a wonderful memory for me, and I’m so very thankful to have had the chance to meet you. I know I’ll see you again soon my friend! Andi and Kirsten in Charlotte, how cool it was to have lunch with you both, I just wish that we had more time to talk. This means that we have unfinished business, and have to catch up at some point soon I hope. I look forward to seeing you both again. Cheers to Andy in D.C. for being a great guide, how lucky for me to have that chance encounter, I learned a lot form you. One more person from Charleston that made it such a great time in that city is Dominic, it was great to see the city through the eyes of an up and coming photographer with so much passion for the craft.
Lastly in New York City, a big thank you goes to my cousin Bonnie and her husband Paul, old friends Todd and Laura, and to new friends Scott and Ron. What fond memories I will have of this road trip, and while the places are beautiful, it’s always the people that make the places so memorable. My gratitude to all the wonderful people that I was able spend some time with on this journey, it has been my privilege.
Today’s photo is the first sight I’ll have as I drive on in to my parking garage in Montreal at home. It has been a month on the road, and I’m looking forward to seeing friends, family, and my little buddies (cats). I just wish I could click my heels 3 times, and say — “There is no place like home…”

Awwwww we adore you, come back!!!!! Fingers crossed our paths merge again soon. We wish you nothing but the best in every future endeavor.
Ken! I very much enjoyed meeting you, I know Andi did two. It is always a pleasure to welcome new friends to Charlotte and just in general to meet new wonderful people (like you). I know you had to change your plans to meet with Andi and I, it meant the world to me! Yes, we’ll meet again. Hopefully, in Montreal or NYC. But you are always welcome back in Charlotte!
Sounds like a wonderful trip. Perhaps we will meet up in New York some day! I usually go back a couple of times a year. Nice processing on this shot. I enjoyed your “road reports”. Congrats on this new photo blog. It is wearing very well :)
Ken:
First off…great image…witty, fun, striking & unexpected.
So close to what we discussed at lunch…finding the unexpected
Thanks so much for the shout out. Great meeting you. Hope you enjoyed the chicken cacciatore at nyc’s terrific new trattoria, Maialino.
Have fun. Talk soon. Look forward to seeing tales and images from the road trip.

Carlos, it was a great time and now I have soooo much editing to do, but hey, that’s a good thing! If not NYC, then perhaps Chicago. I’ve only been to the airport there, need to fix that.

Thanks Scott! One of the treasures of travel is the unexpected, isn’t it? Great to meet you as well. The meal, company and conversation were all wonderful. Talk to you soon :)
Good one again…something very rustic about the picture…
Congratulations Ken on your blog’s one-year milestone! Particularly enjoyed your images of the Capitol building in D.C., the pizza parlor in New York City, and the pier in in Saint Augustine.
