Ring my Bell — The Grassmayr Bell Foundry in Innsbruck

A perfect example of why I love travelling so much can be seen in the photos in this blog post. While I never tend to do this kind of thing when I’m at home, I try to absorb as much as possible when I’m on the road. I’ll visit any unique location, taste most any kind…

I hope you can make it to southern France! It’s an amazing place. But if I’m honest, no matter where you go, your photos are always outstanding ;-)

That Canada coast-to-coast trip is by train. Should be unreal. I’m also curious about which travel bloggers you met up with here but I’ll let you keep your secrets.
~Andrew

Awesome Ken!

If you do manage to go to Umbria, I would LOVE to see photos of yours from a town called Todi, which is one of the most varied and beautiful of Italian towns I’ve been to, not to mention immeasurably gorgeous by dawn, dusk and lit up at night.

I can’t think of another photographer I know who I’d rather see shots of the town from. It NEEDS to be on your itinerary!

I just discovered your site and am in awe of your beautiful photography. Just stunning! And Iceland? One of the places I have always wanted to go to. I’m also heading to Lebanon this year! Looks like it should be a fascinating place!

Hi Ken, Nice work! and Lovely webdesign! congratulations! keep the good mood! Ana

You still take my breath away – every single time I come here I am stunned…gorgeous :)

Intriguing photographs, its extraordinary how they pull you into the scene. What is the sheen or glow coming off some of them… particularly the above photograph? Loving the whole vintage travel look of your site btw! Very cool

irene

Hammerstein and Metallica quotes in one article! ;) Very nice.

Beauty in a gritty bell foundry…great job, Ken.

If it looks like,—if it feels like, — then it must have been photos shot during the medieval times. Wrong! It is Ken Kaminesky’s unique style of photography. What a lovely surprise. Awesome work.

Beautiful stuff and I love the look of the site. Awesome.

Marie-Eve, Thank you! Southern France is way up there on my list of must see places. Hope I can make it there this year.
-
Andrew, the cross Canada trip would likely be by train. What a great way to see the country.

Oli, thank so much for the tip about Umbria and for such a kind comment. I hope I get the chance to photograph Todi now :)

My Marketing Adventure part 5: Developing My Brand Strategy

It’s Not How it Looks. It’s How it Works.   I knew that developing the design elements of my branding strategy would require time, patience and a lot of expert advice. As a photographer, I often feel like I have a very good idea about art and design. Sometimes I’m right, and sometimes I really…

My head reels with the thought of how much work you put into getting your “Marketing Adventure” into place. Very impressive results. You deserve great success. In regard to your sharing sooo much information with us—-”He who wishes to secure the good of others has already secured his own.” Confucius.

Give your designer a bonus! These look amazing! Thanks for the info. I also noticed you added a pin it button to your posts. Very smart, I need to get on that for my blog too.
Keep it up!
~Andrew

Loving the business cards! This is such a well thought-out package. Very impressed. I hope it lands you some great new work Ken!

Wow, wow, wow! I have absolutely no doubt that with such beautiful marketing tactics, your campaing will definitely be a hit. Wonderful work and amazing material :-)

An afternoon at the regal Hotel Imperial in Vienna

A Grand Entrance As I meandered along the Käerntner Ring on my first summer morning in Vienna, I stopped in front of several ornately decorated buildings to absorb the flavour of the city’s architecture. Each building had it’s own character, but all of these lavish buildings put together, one after another is what makes…

Wow, stunning as always! Seeing palaces like these remind me that architecture in Europe is truly unique and not exploited enough. Many people only take a picture without taking the time to inquire as to what era it is, or what the history is.

And don’t get me started on places that don’t allow photographs… I always find it a bit zealous to be honest, and I’m not sure I understand the reasons for such restrictions, really.

Wow, impressive hotel and impressive images (as ever). I truly feel like I am standing there the details are so vivid.

You really nailed the perspective adjustments in post and it really sets these photos apart from other interior architecture photographers who don’t correct well. I really liked the detail shot of the Imperial Torte. It broke up the post well and was refreshing.
Cheers,
~Andrew

Wow stunning as usual Ken.

Oh my gosh! Never seen anything like it – and that cake…jealous much! Imagine being able to sell the palace, and then it gets turned into a Hotel! Gorgeous is not enough…stunning!
Cheers
Lisa

Ken, I’m impressed how you always post half dozen or more high quality photos in your posts! Not like the rest!

Great images (as I would anticipate) of a wonderful building that has so far escaped my attention when I have been in Vienna. Must try coffee and a piece of Imperial Torte if ever I get the chance.

Stunning images Ken… gorgeous. You have incredible framing and perspective skills and use them well. Heading out to Israel for ten days tomorrow! I hope to take some Ken-esque images :)

Fabulous! You are making me homesick!

Cheers,

Claudia

So much beauty, its difficult to see it all together Ken! Your images always manage to stun me with their beauty..they are like a dreamworld…

Marie-Eve, I absolutely agree! Those places that don’t allow me to take photos are missing out on an opportunity. Not sure what they are protecting, especially in the places where they allow zillions of point and shoot photos but not good ones.

Sigh!
-
Mark, Thanks man, the place is crazy awesome and you need to see it for yourself. You’ll love it!
-
Andrew, mmmmm Imperial Torte!
-
Thanks Edith!

Lisa, I just staed going to the gym again… No more cake mentions, please!! ;)

Thanks Dimitri, I try my best.

Touring Spain at Poble Espanyol in Barcelona

History, Art, and Architecture Poble Espanyol (Spanish: Pueblo español, “Spanish Town”) was one of those unexpected treasures that I discovered while doing my pre-trip research on Barcelona. I was intrigued to read about the diversity of art and architecture in this special part of the city and I was lucky to be there on a…

Excellent work Ken!

Thanks. I’ve been to Barcelona a couple of times and knew nothing about this place.

The second image is my favorite.
I like the subtle changes to the blog, like adding the improved related posts section below each post, as well as only displaying the lead image with an excerpt on the homepage. Also, did you change your fonts a bit to match the revamped portfolio site?

Excellent job reviewing Spain. I have traveled to Ibiza a couple times but one day plan to go to Barcelona. Great pictures as well

Wow! What gorgeous pictures!

Noelle

Hello there Ken, a friend of mine is really into photography and told me about your blog. She knows that I love traveling, and I have enjoyed looking at all your incredible photos with my friends. I am teaching in Menorca right now, and seeing as you are in Barcelona right now, if you have time to island hop, Menorca is a beautiful and photogenic place. Keep up the great work! It would be an honor to see photos of the Balearic islands! Just a suggestion if you have time :-)
-Noelle

Thank you so much for posting this, Ken! I’ve got one day in Barcelona in May, and have been wondering if I should go here (I didn’t have time on my last trip). From an architectural/photography POV, it looks awesome, but I was discouraged by how many visitors online reviewed it as nothing but a touristy shopping area. I think you’ve just proven that I can get what I want out of it.

Gaby

Now go to southern Spain. i want to see your pics of places like the Alhambra already :)

Love the narrow street shots. I need to get myself to Spain for a bit of shooting.

Amazing shots, congrats for the post Ken !!!

This is great work, love the European cities with their history and culture.

As I see in pictures Poble Espanyol is too beautiful. I love all these pictures. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I’m in Toronto this week and have not had a lot of computer time, sorry for the delay in replying!

Tracey, now you have an excellent reason to go back to beautiful Barcelona!
-
Andrew, the fonts are the same but I did tweak the home page as you noticed. It makes for smoother loading times and less bounces. The image links at the end of the post to other relevant posts are a new feature on my blog and I’m not going to use them every time. I love seeing new upgrades to WP and to my template.
-
Gaby, Alhambra is high on my list of places to visit. :)
-
Thanks again everyone!
-
Noelle, unfortunately I’m not in Spain. These are some photos from a while back and I just wanted to make sure people saw Poble Espanyol. Hope to be back one day soon and I’ll see about visiting Menorca while I’m there.

I find it amazing that a city was constructed with the intent to tear it down- it’s lovely! Thanks for sharing.

I read many blogs in Google Reader, but I always know with yours I must go to your page to see the wonderful images.

It’s not hard to pick out the architecture from my region – the pueblos blancos and Moorish touches have me totally enraptured with Southern Spain!

I’ve been to Poble Espanol. The most wonderful fake town i have seen. I had a strange moment when I entered the so called church and see only a shop of souvenirs.

Walking after Midnight… In Savannah

A true Southern Gem I often think of one of this great old song by Patsy Cline when I am still out taking photos after midnight in another new city that I can’t seem to get enough of. I go out walkin’  After midnight  Out in the moonlight  Just like we used to do I’m…

Love these photos, especially the first (mansion pic), not to mention the song. I get Patsy stuck in my head various hours of the day but that one definitely…after midnight…and on a quiet, empty street.

These are incredible shots Ken! My favourite is of the Candy Store.

Wow, amazing! I especially like the Candy Store one, so lively and yet nobody in the picture. I didn’t know anything about Savannah before and now I definitely want to visit!

Nice work Ken

I love that song. It really suits Savanna. I’ve only seen the place via magazines (and your artwork) but it looks amazing. Another city added to my wish list!

Olivia

I really enjoyed what you had to say about Savannah since I am fortunate enough to live here. However, I love your tips for enjoying a city and especially the lovely results of your “after midnight” walk through my city.

Sandra

Gorgeous shots- though could have done without the color filters. Savannah doesn’t need it!

Stephanie

Beautiful photos of my favorite city….

Vicky

Savannah is my favorite city and these photos make me want to go back now.

Well done as usual. I almost transferred to SCAD as a sophomore in college on 3/4 scholarship. Ended up staying put because almost none of my credits would transfer and the students I talked to said that although the facilities and staff were top-notch, it was hard to get as much time with both as they wanted.
Nonetheless, the SCAD grads I’ve met generally have a pretty good sense of the business side of photography which is something I’m learning post-graduation.

irene

A former co-worker of mine went to SCAD – he said that Savannah was famous for being the most haunted city in the US, and many of the buildings at SCAD were indeed haunted. I think you captured that eeriness for sure, Ken! Oh and walking around after midnight is one of the best things to do while travelling. London at 3am really is an entirely different experience!

Gorgeous shots Ken. Savannah does look like a great place.

Beautiful set of images Ken! I was there recently, but now I wish I had seen it after dark.

Absolutely gorgeous. I’m going to Savannah in a month–this makes me extra stoked, plus is a virtual reminder to take my tripod ;-)

Born and raised in South Carolina but I’ve never been to Savannah! Have read and seen so much about it but (like all your stuff) really love your photos of the area.

STEPHIEBUTTONS, It’s a great song isn’t it?
-
Samuel, I loved that Candy store… Went back twice to get the perfect shot :)
-
Marie-Eve, you will love Savannah. You really do have to go!
-
Thanks Eden
-
Lu, Savannah should be on everyone’s wish list.
-
Olivia, How lucky you are to live in one of my favourite cities! I hope that you do start taking some after midnight walks. It’s gorgeous… and creepy ;)
-
Sandra, There were no filters used. The colours are all from different colour temperature bulbs. Sodium vapour, incandescent and fluorescent lamps all are different shades. Our eyes adapt much better than film or digital capture.
-
Vicky, Say hi to all the ghosts for me the next time you’re back ;)
-
Andrew, I’d love to get a gig teaching photography at SCAD… When I do, you’re welcome to sit in :)
-
Irene, what a nice surprise to have a comment from you here. We’ll have to do an after midnight walk somewhere in L.A. when I visit… Maybe not Compton ;)
-
Edith, It is a great place. go!
-
Anne, Make a point to go back… and also make a point to take me with you!
-
Kristin, I’m jealous! I wanna go too. Great talking with you yesterday!
-
Jeremy, that’s unforgivable… Go to Savannah right now! ;)

Wow, the HDR process makes these photos look amazing! I love HDR images.. Thank you for sharing, Ken!

Great shots. I had the chance to visit Savannah years ago and found it quite charming. Lots of amazing architecture to see there.

Wonderful images, so full of color. The sweet shop is my favourite.

These are fantastic! I’m so jealous. Savannah is my favorite city in the whole world. Great shots!

Absolutely love your work; I recently shot Savannah and many of the same places, such a beautiful city and perfect for HDR-DRI photography and of course, the ambience of the old city and fabulous restaurants. Your attention to detail, color and composition is eye-salve for the photographer.

GORGEOUS. This city never fails to capture my heart. I’m thoroughly in love with Savannah. With all its sights and beautiful people.

Incredible photos.

Wow, these are some of the best night shots I’ve ever seen. What camera settings did you use?

jenny

Absolutely gorgeous. The city of romance…

Superb!!! I love them all!! After dark is my very favorite time to shoot. Such a lonesome feeling comes out at night that transforms the buildings and the streets. It’s like at night you can really see what exists.

My Marketing Adventure part 4: Implementing the Website Edit

Editing Thousands of Images Was Hard Enough … On To My New Website   Just Do It   For me, one of the very best things about the Campaign Manager Pro program from Agency Access is the simple fact that my CM Pro consultant Jennifer Kilberg lit a fire under me to get things done….

Saying goodbye to Austria, Hungary and Germany at the Munich Airport

Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly away… Since I’m back in the air tomorrow, I thought it to be fitting to share some photos of the cool modern architecture of the Munich airport. As I prepared to say goodbye to Europe last September I had a couple of hours to kill at the…

Nice shots! And what a cool building!

Hi Ken …

great shots …

Hey Ken,
Great article & photos. But what I wonder is where you ate all the time while in Germany & Austria. Did you really only get pork & potato dishes? :)
All the best, Nisa

Gaby

I love that you always keep your word when it comes to sharing amazing pictures ;)
*I sent you an email, make sure you read it!!!*
Bon voyage Kenneth!!

These are amazing photos! Great job making an airport look so artsy!

Awesome post! Your pictures really bring this place to life.

Thanks Eden, I was really impressed with the Munich airport. My hometown airport in Montreal is horribly ugly in comparison.
-
Richard, thank you!
-
Nisa, I ate some good food in Germany and Austria but it was always very rich and hearty. After a while it was just too much. Looking forward to meeting you in April :D
-
Gaby, Thanks so much as always :D St. Louis has been very cool… Or rather cold!! But, i did see a hockey game… Not bad!
-
D, I’ll give the architect a wee bit of credit too ;)
-
Marc, Cheers! Hope to get back to Munich for Oktoberfest one day.

I love these photos. It’s like I’m actually in that airport. Well done! Keep posting photos like this. :)

When it comes to modern architecture I usually enjoy pictures of it rather than the real thing… I don’t know why. I just think it looks better on a photograph.

I really enjoy reading about your travels and looking at your awesome detailed photos.

I absolutely loooove this airport and every time I exit it for the S Bahn, I walk aimlessly around taking in the view. I think it’s amazing architecture! Fantastic photos!

Inside the Magnificent Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest

Red Carpet… For me? When I told friends that I was going to be in Budapest, several made a strong point of telling me about how special the Hungarian Parliament Building was. I had just arrived from the other old capital city of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and had a big fill of amazing architecture in that…

WOW is right! You really captured the richness and beauty of this building!

Stunning images! The details are just incredible and so ornate. Love the background story behind the images. Cheers!

Holy Cow doesnt seem to cover it :) Oh my gosh that is amazing – I have never ever seen anything like it!

Hello! Just want to say thank you for this interesting article! =) Peace, Joy.

Wow, this is simply amazing!

I have visited the Parliament in Budapest and remember being amazed at the grandeur, detail, and beauty of it as well. Your photos really capture it! And how amazing to have an entire hour to yourself to get those photos (jealous!). I hope to visit Budapest this summer and see this amazing building again.

Hello,

Was glad to see your amazing pics of the Hungarian Parliament. I am Hungarian and I live in Budapest, I also have been to the building some times and I never could make good pics due to the bad light conditions. To be honest I have never seen any such perfect pics made about the parliament building than yours, let me congratulate for them! I hope your return one time and make good shots of other buildings too in Budapest, there are some more perfect spots for making similar pics. How much time do you spend in your home country: Canada? :) I am envy a bit, travelling to various countries and taking pics, hm :)

Hello, I want to ask you a question: The Parliament can be visit alone, without guide, no guided tour? how many hours take an ordinary visit? (I want also take some photos).
Thanks,Ioana (Romania)

Hi Ken Kaminesky, I really love to watch your beautiful pictures that you taken. In addition, the magnificent inside pictures of Hungarian Parliament is so wonderful; is out of imagination. Thanks for sharing these.
